Executive Letter
Doug Sheer
From the Chairman

As Artists Talk On Art enters its 38th season (we were organized in 1974 and began panels in January 1975), we continue to do those things that the art public expects from us, holding panels and dialogs that interest them. That remains our core activity and we are understandably very good at it. And, as in earlier years we remember that to stay good at it we must keep our antennae extended into the art world and sensitive to current events and the interests of our fellow artists. That's, as always, challenging.

We have found a happy home at Westwood Gallery, where this winter/spring series is nesting again, after a strong fall run there. And, we extend a hearty 'thank you' to the gallery and its leaders. Its a great location and a nice space. It seems that being in Soho is not only convenient -- close to many forms of transportation -- but even desirable. So, our audiences have been steadily increasing.

Meanwhile, our decade long activity to organize and secure our oral history archive of recordings. Much of the archive has now been preserved by digitizing it from its analog roots to new digital media, both in hard drive and disk forms. And, we are now in conversation with a variety of institutions about creating a long term home for the collection. We began recording right in the very beginning -- 1975 -- and kept at it so that today there is a virtually unbroken line of recordings and the related paper records such as the mailing pieces -- flyers -- that attracted our audiences.

We hope you will join us to see panels this season.
